Lunar Eclipse As you may recall, a pair of powerful eclipses on New Year’s Eve kicked off 2010. Another pair of eclipses is on its way, beginning with a lunar eclipse visible in the South Pacific and Australia on Saturday, June 26, peaking at 4:30 a.m. PT, and completing with the July 11 solar eclipse. This pair is especially poignant because they are highlighting the much-anticipated Astrological Cardinal Cross. Astrologers have studied eclipses and their effects since the Babylonian era and have found that they often coincide with earth changes, political upheavals and modern stock market fluctuations. With the advent of external events, eclipses can become powerful indicators of needed change in our personal lives. Lunar energies govern domestic matters, the feminine principal and the water element. These energies encourage us to examine our emotions, and create and hold intentions for change in our lives. For this reason, both new and full moons are particularly potent times to meditate or perform ritual and ceremony. Mercury – the planet representing communications – and Pluto – the God of the underworld – are both closely aligned with this eclipse. With Pluto’s influence you may find powerful emotions needing to be released, and consequently erupting from deep within you with great force. As the eclipses create a temporary shadow, you too, may find yourself uncovering previously buried emotions that need to be honored. As the moon represents cycles, lunar eclipses are a time to look at what is no longer working in your life, and initiate the ending of a cycle and the beginning of a new one. This will be true for all of us, but especially for those who have Cancer or Capricorn planets in their horoscope because these are the two zodiacal signs in which the eclipses fall. You can expect a lunar eclipse to maintain an influence in your life for as long as it takes for you to resolve the emotional dynamics that it produced. The ancient sages felt that eclipses were a time for meditation and learning; a special time to honor the spiritual aspects of your life. Try to keep your schedule light, remain internally focused, eat only pure foods, and do not consume alcohol. The veil between earth and the heavens is thinner during an eclipse, allowing you to more easily connect to the eternal universal wisdom that is your divine essence. Copyright 2010 by Linda Kaye |
